| 1) Etre larve pendant 3 ans Cette larve a vécu 3 ans dans une galerie creusée dans la vase, au fond de la rivière Tisza en Hongrie. Elle grandit peu à peu par mues successives et se nourrit en filtrant l'eau. | 1) A larva waiting three years This larva lived three years in a burrow dug in the mud in the bottom of Hungary's Tisza River. It grew little by little through successive molts and fed by filtering the water. |

| 2) L'émergence des mâles Un soir de juin, des milliers de larves remontent à la surface. En une fraction de seconde, elles se transforment en insectes ailés: tous des mâles. | 2) The emergence of the males One June evening, thousands of larvae come to the surface. In a fraction of a second, they transform to winged insects: all of them males. |
