Mayflies (Ephemeroptera) of the Southeastern United States

The southeastern United States is known for its high diversity of plants and animals, including the mayflies, as compared to the other regions of the United States. For the past few years, knowledge of the mayfly fauna in the region has been increasingly improving. However, published faunal studies have been confined geographically to individual states. We present here a list of the mayfly species known from the twelve southeastern states of the United States. There are approximately 293 mayfly species representing 62 genera known from the Southeast.
For convenience, the families are listed alphabetically herein, as are the genera within each family. The list itself was lasted compiled in November 1999.
